As the pandemic worldwide of COVID-19 seems to be increasing, the reaction from people of panic, selfishness, faithlessness seems to highlight the spiritual condition of the world that would invoke the very wrath of God. What should we do in these times? Despair? Turn to purely material means? We, as Catholics, know the spiritual realities of illness and pestilence and how they were brought upon this world by the original sin of our protoparents and carried on by our sinful inclinations; and along with that we know that God responds to the pleas and faithfulness of his people. As the public Masses are being shuttered nationwide in the USA and in the world we need to look to our Saints and their actions in such times – we must PRAY, REPENT, and DO PENANCE. We must BOLDLY TRUST OUR GOD. Instead of running from this problem and stocking up on toilet paper, let’s stock up on graces. Let’s appease our angry God. As is seen in the Bible he heals us when we implore him, he spares us when we repent… read below his promise to us –

“If I shut up heaven, and there fall no rain, or if I give orders, and command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; And my people, upon whom my name is called, being converted, shall make supplication to me, and seek out my face, and do penance for their most wicked ways: then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins and will heal their land.”

2 Paralipomenon 7:13-14

As you may have seen circulating on Catholic social media, St Corona, ironically, is a patroness of Pandemics. Her feast day is on May 14th.

What is being proposed here is that we pray the 54 Day Rosary Novena with an Act of Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as well as a concluding prayer against pandemics invoking St. Corona, with the intention of “ending the pandemic and increasing the supernatural faith of Catholics, lay, clergy and bishops”.

The Novena will begin on Sunday March 22nd, 2020 and complete with the final day on May 14th, the feast day of St. Corona.
